Fiera Capital is fast paced and constantly evolving. It’s an exhilarating environment. Although I’m arguably still learning on the job, the firm entrusts me with important new projects. They show a lot of faith in their people – even those just starting out.
Contemplating her education and career options prior to university, Claude decided that her strong math skills likely would serve her well in the field of finance. In 2010, after obtaining her B. Comm. from Montreal’s Concordia University, she joined Fiera Capital in a temporary role as Analyst, Institutional Markets. “I quickly realized that, despite my degree, I really didn’t know much about finance,” Claude concedes. “Fortunately, I found myself surrounded by high-calibre people…my manager took me under her wing and taught me a lot.” Evidently a quick study, Claude parlayed her temporary status into a permanent position after just three months and, by 2015, had been promoted to a management position. Looking back over the firm’s recent rapid growth, Claude is proud to have played a role in helping build Fiera Capital’s Institutional Team.
Fiera Capital offers all the advantages inherent in a large organization, while still maintaining the agility and entrepreneurial mindset of a start-up organization. It’s a unique environment.
While studying economics at the University of Guelph, Marc decided that he wanted to work in financial services – but wasn’t entirely sure how to get there. After obtaining his degree, he found a job with a large well-known fund administrator, which proved to be a great way to get a foothold in the industry. “I made it my goal to advance my experience and knowledge to the point where I would be able to work on the client side for an investment- management firm.” That opportunity presented itself in 2013, when Marc started at Fiera Capital as a Senior Portfolio Administrator. A chance to move up the ladder was not long in coming: later that same year, he was promoted to Supervisor, Derivatives Administration and, in 2016, he moved up again to his current role. Marc concedes that the new title (see above) is quite a mouthful, “but it was the perfect opportunity to draw on my previous experience to lead a team that brings value to the company every day in a niche area.”
